Here is a great article on it:

Bremelanotide (formerly PT-141) is the generic term for a new medication for use in treating sexual dysfunction in men (erectile dysfunction or impotence) as well as sexual dysfunction in women (sexual arousal disorder). It is the only known synthetic aphrodisiac. Unlike Viagra and other related medications, it does not act upon the vascular system, but directly increases sexual desire. Bremelanotide is a spray introduced nasally.

Originally, the peptide Melanotan II that bremelanotide was developed from was tested as a sunless tanning agent. In initial testing, Melanotan II did induce tanning but additionally caused sexual arousal and spontaneous erections as unexpected side effects in eight out of the ten original male volunteer test subjects. In clinical studies, bremelanotide has been shown to be effective in treating male sexual and erectile dysfunction as well as female sexual dysfunction. It is currently being tested by Palatin Technologies.

Bremelanotide is a cyclic hepta-peptide lactam analog of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH) that activates the melanocortin receptors MC3-R and MC4-R in the central nervous system. It has the amino acid sequence Ac-Nle-cyclo[Asp-His-D-Phe-Arg-Trp-Lys]-OH or cyclo-[Nle4, Asp5, D-Phe7, Lys10]alpha-MSH-(4-10). PT-141 is a metabolite of Melanotan II that lacks the C-terminal amide function. Its molecular forumla is C50H68N14O10 with a molecular weight of 1025.2.

A Phase III clinical trial will begin in the first half of 2007.

here is what i found for the dose:

All doses of PT-141 demonstrated safety, importantly; there were no reports of hypotension or syncope at any PT-141 dose level. The 5mg and 10mg doses were well-tolerated. The most common adverse events in these doses were mild to moderate in intensity and included bad aftertaste, facial flushing, nausea, post-nasal drip, fatigue and headache. Of the 271 patients randomized into the study, approximately 12% discontinued due to adverse events. Discontinuations due to gastrointestinal adverse events were limited almost exclusively to patients taking the 15mg and 20mg doses. Patients who took multiple 15mg and 20mg doses of PT-141 tolerated the drug well.
Approximately 70% of patients considered PT-141 to be as or
more effective than sildenafil; The quality of erection achieved with PT-141 is perceived to be comparable or superior to sildenafil in 83% of patients; PT-141 has a longer duration of action and onset time was more rapid than sildenafil; and Many patients highlighted the "initiating" aspect (could feel the drug working) of PT-141 as a positive differentiator to sildenafil.

Happy reading men and ladies!!

Right now you will have to get it from China. It works best as a nasal spray or as a SQ injection. Orally you will have to really increase the dosage. Now for the guys... This does not correct ED, it does increase arousal. If you are experiencing ED and low libido you will have to couple this wit an ED drug like cialis, levitra, etc. I really don't recommend viagra unless you have severe ED. This stuff is not cheap so you home brewers would be best making up a nasal spray. Oral administration does work but your liver really filters this peptide out and I think I read(and I will check and get back to you) oral bioavailability was only like .70 to 1.9 percent. Nasal administration has a BA of 12 - 14 percent and SQ was around 55 - 60 percent.

I just picked up 4 vials for SQ injection...For my wife, although I MAY try to "stack" it one night with some cialis. I've heard wonderful things about that combination...
