How do you sterilize unsealed vials before adding gear and crimping closed?? Do you use Mehthyl Alchohol, 2 propranol??
the best way is to fill the vial with alcohol and let it disolve in the oven........that kind of sucks and it smells too...........i wash with alcohol and dry in the oven at about 325 for 30 mins.........again it smells but its alot faster then letting a whole vial of alcohol disolve(100cc bottle full takes about 5 hours)....

What type of alcohol do you use??
I mix rubbing alcohol and BA and put it in the oven til it dossolves. I only put about 1-2ml's in there per 10ml. vial, shake it, then put it in the oven.
yes rubbing alcohol............as i said i dont do the whole full disolve thing.....i wash and let it disolve off the rest of the way.....
I would not recomend putting vials full of rubbing alcohol in your oven. It is flammable, and the vapors could ignite and even if they do not, they probably are not very good for you. Fill them with it, let them sit for a while with the alcohol if you want, but then empty them. After that, you should put them in the oven to dry them.
yes that is what i do..........but he asked for the best way, that would be the case for 100% steralization........
Couldn't you just rinse them with boiling water?
The best way to go would be to autoclave the vials. Yes, I realize that not many of us are likely to have one of these puppies in our kitchen, so let me assure you that a good pressure cooker does every bit as good. You can pick one up from eBay for about $40 (the newer the better); cheap insurance if you ask me. Wiping a vial down with alcohol or other disinfectant is not sterilizing. They'd be sanitized, yes, but not necessarily sterile. Baking vials isn't likely to kill everything, either. Steam under pressure, on the other hand, will kill pretty much anything. Just don't do this with a stopper on the vial.
