Is Echinacea only effective as a preventive for Test flu symptoms or can it be used on an as needed basis (you start feeling sick from the Test so you pop some Echinacea to get over the flu symptoms)? How many mg is an effective dose?

Can be used for both. Whenever my girl or people around me are sick I pop Echinacea 400MG's twice daily to PREVENT sickness. If I start to get sick, whether it is from a cycle, or just getting sick, I also take 400MG twice daily to nip it in the bud. The stuff works great. Only thing I can say from talking to tons of people that use it is that it does NOT seem to do much for stomach based flus/colds.

Whenever I feel the first symptoms of a suspected flu coming on, I take the following: - Echinacea - 100,000 HU cayenne - Zinc - Vitamin C If I catch it early enough, I never come down with full-blown symptoms. I can't even remember the last time I was "sick", beyond a bout of food poisoning a year and a half ago 😀 I'm familiar with the "Sust flu", but...how can this be viral? I've never really understood the mechanics of this, myself. I'm hoping that someone can enlighten me. Oh yeah...although I roll my own echinacea (I make a tincture from the dried root/flower), I hear that TwinLab makes a good 400mg product.
