I posted over on the general steroid board about this but since autoimmune diseases seem to affect more women than men I thought I would ask for some help in here. I was wondering if there are any anabolic steroids that would lower my immune system like a corticolsteroid does since I hate taking prednisone since it eats all the muscle I work to build inbetween flare ups. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thats a bit of a tricky one. Most people are under the impression that AAS boosts the immune system, which is technically true in one sense. AAS does stimulate the B cells that are responsible for humoral immunity, and on the other hand, they suppress T cell activity. Because most autoimmune diseases are caused by T cells attacking otherwise healthy cells, treating this with AAS has been largely advantageous. There are a ton of studies out there showing success with Anavar and winny~ drawbacks are liver damage and hepatitis. Low doses of injectable test, especially the short acting esters have been shown to lower T cell count and inhibit the effects of inflammation, especially in rheumatoid arthritis. deca has also been shown to reduce T cell count. Hope that helps ~~~> Misty
