Im just done my first HCG injection into my quad. A freind who is a nurse showed me how to do it, but I wanna check if im doing it right.
I am going into the front of my quad, with a 23 guage 1 and a quater inch needle. I am doing it quick - straight in, straight out. Prior to injection, I grab the whole are and squeeze it so it comes up away from the bone.
She said I would usually draw back on syringe once in, to check if any blood comes out, but since the amount is so small (250IU), its a waste of time doing this.
Does this sound right to you guys? Ive google injecting sights and only found injecting into OUTER THIGH, not the front, and should I be drawing back to check for a blood vessel?
I always aspirate no matter how small the dose. If it's not intended to go into your veins, aspirate to be safe. Why such a big needle? Most people I know use a slin pin and shoot hcg subcutaneously in the belly.
I rang the pharmacy who supplied the HCG and he said to use that bigga needle to for IM. Some people say to do it IM and some say sub q?
Which is better?
....cool I will asperate from now on too. How does air not get sucked back into the syringe though, and then get put into...um..YOU when you push it back in?
Research has shown that they work just the same, I do it SC. Less scar tissue is always a good idea.

and even if you do it im, you can use a slin pin.

Thanks for the advice so far....
Another question....am I meant to take it in the morning? Does it matter?
does not matter imo.
Better shot it in the morning, or at 6 PM (maximum) instead of night in order to avoid sleeping issues, IMO.

no need to aspirate. The volume you are using is so small that even if you went into a vein there would be no problems except a bruise. I would rec a 30 ga 3/16 needle. Very comfortable and really nothing larger is needed for an HCG sub-q inj
good advice jawbone.
