Originally posted by trialsquest I say this because of a personal exerience. An experience that revealed the nature of the beast and the atonement that is rewarded to those that love God and are called according to his purpose. One that delivered me from a suicide mentality, crystal meth addiction, and a feeling of hopelessness that would have eventually led to my destruction. So you have no right to argue with me something that I've experienced for myself; Respect that and I'll respect you. Good for you. You found the strength inside yourself to pull your life together and called it "God".

That may be...but he is, at base, a narrow minded technician who is possessed of great skill, he is not a leader of men. Here are some people who belived in the Divine: -George Washington -Abraham Lincoln -Charles DeGaulle -Winston Churchill -Charles Martel -Lord Nelson -Napolean Bonaparte -Adolf Hitler -Ronald Reagan -Robert E Lee -George S Patton However you feel about the aforementioned men, they were not "weak minded".

Originally posted by kapn ok so the lord saved you from you horrible life and you worship him... isnt this the same lord that stood by while you were in such a horrible state of being... and i aint argueing your belief that to you god exists. doesnt pay to argue a belief.. what i am saying is just cause people believe in god doesnt make him real.. for we do not have a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but was in all points tempted as we are but without sin let us therefor come boldy unto the throne of grace that we might obtain mercy and find grace to help in a time of need. So, he didn't just stand by and let this happen it happened because of my separation from God that the end result would have lead to death but it was his intervention that saved me.

Originally posted by kapn how exactly did he intervene ? what difference does it make it's not like you really care. You just would like another reason to criticize my beliefs, and i'm no longer gonna let you make a mockery of my God or my beliefs. End of Subject.
From my experience, the more one claims to be religious the more the person fucks people in general over. They do this time and time again and just go back to church and pray and say all is forgiven. Please... If something can not be explained "yet", it has to be from god. Religion was made to control people and to scare people.

I have wrestled with this question every since I was a child. A couple of years ago I asked my uncle, who is a minister, and he introduced me to the The Gap Theory. The Gap Theory basically states that there is an undefined period of time between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2 in which the 'world that then was' suffered catastrophy. Verse 2 is believed to describe a world that became 'formless and void' as a result of Satan's rebellion, and was re-created in six days. My summary doesn't really do justification to the theory. Proponents of this theory actually make their argument more compelling by pointing to the meanings of created and formed in their original hebrew language. This is the theory that I accept, it's logical and "answers" several of my questions. If you get bored do a search on yahoo or something.
Originally posted by bull35 I've always wondered how the 'christian' churches & peoples could not be offended being referred to as a 'flock' and being led by a 'shephard'. That is soooooo degrading, being compared to mindless sheep that will follow anyone with a staff.-LOL All humans are like that even ATHEISTS. For Example - If you have a job you flock to your job everyday on a time told to you by your shepard AKA your boss.
I really dont understand Atheists, they must be cocky and over confident, that I can assure you. Do you atheists think that this whole wide universe was created as some sort of a mistake or a coincidence? Someone had to set this whole thing in motion, its impossible otherwise.
