If you guys remember I was in a 4 wheeling accident about 5 weeks ago. The docters gave me a 50% chance of living and the other 50% was to be a vegatable. I luckily am neither. I also new the life flight people and they later told me that they didnt even think I would make it to the hospital. Lately everything is going fairly well. My memory is getting better every day and the headaces have slowed down but my back is killing me. Now if that is not bad enough I owe $50,000 in medical bills and those are climbing. I will be 24 in a month and dont have much money. I am training to be a fireman but that has slowed from all the time I missed but plan on getting back into it. My question is how can I pay this or get out of paying it? What are my options? I dont want to screw the docters because they need to eat to and they saved my life but I have my whole life ahead of me and dont and have great credit and dont want that ruined and I dont want to be paying my whole life either. Please, please help with any ideas on how to settle this. I have been real stressed even being on anti depressents (those have helped) which I think is post truamatic syndrom. I have never been affraid of death and this even makes me less scared. Again please help with ideas. Thanks in Advance.

THIS COUNTRY SUX!.. we need universal health coverage to some extent.. to cover stuff like that seriously.. it dont have to be as extensive as canada's expensive system., but just enough to keep this type of shit from happening.. There might be some sort of fed programs out there man, cant think of any tho... i know u dont have to pay hospital bills and eventually they'll stop asking for the money but not 100% sure how that will effect your credit, cause that is a big chunk of money. I think maybe just for 3 years it would fuck up your credit, than it goes off the credit report.. not 100% on that.

I was told by a bankrupcy lawyer,,that medical does no go on your credit,,and even if it somehow does,,most creditors do not count it at all... You can pay the bills as little as you can monthly too...There are also several charities out there who help people exactly like you...You need to talk to the director of the fiancial/billing department..They are more often than not,,very helpful. derogatory credit can stay on your report as long as 7-10 years too, mass.. And if this country sucks so bad,,then get the fuck out of it.

Some people here know that I work in the industry, I just saw a credit report yesterday that was over 50 pages long!! It was full of medical collections. Ugly. This person was filing for bankrupcy by the way. Cole

Ok, here's the deal....First I give you much respect for wanting to pay the bills, as most would just say fuck it. Also, congrats on coming out of that OK.... Now, here is how to pay the bills, and this comes directly from a freind of mine whose little girl had cancer, and he had no medical coverage. There is a little know clause in the welfare system that enables working people to be able to take their medical bills to welfare for reimbursement. What they will do is calculate your working wage, and come up with a percentage that they will pay towards your med bills. Basically, I think they paid a good 80% of his bills, and he worked a deal w/the hospital to go on a payment plan for the rest. Please don't be afraid or embarrased to do this.....that is what the system is for. Also, medical bills DO go on the credit report, and creditors hold these in the same light as not paying credit cards or loans, so DO NOT just ignore these bills. Good luck, and glad you're OK.

Once it goes to Collection Agency and it eventually will it will show up on your credit...then could end up as a judgement against you personally....which You'd have to end up paying off before you could buy a house... Cole is correct....it does show on your credit... damn 50 pages..?????? holy shit! Good luck w/ that one Cole LOL Cutie
