1) I don't understand how you can link sugar substitutes with that claim. since they have no calories how can it affect the amount of fat being lost?

2) Are you linking aspartame with water retention?

Please post some studies that back this up. I'm very interested in reading it, since I'm an avid CL drinker!

i third this. I am also in the 2litre a day of crystal light fan club

After looking a little more into this I could not find one study to back up the claim that aspartame has any effect on fluid retention. There are numerous studies backing up its use for reducing calories and resulting in a greater weight-loss. Here's a link that has numerous studies with aspartame...not one mentions anything about fluid retention. There's alot of incorrect information being passed around on the internet regarding aspartame, which has no supporting evidence. So unless anyone can post a reputable source to refute this...I'm going back chugging my crystal light!

Good read. I think the food industry on a whole is one big misleading piece of information! I mean realistically, who is going to sell push the benefits of fresh meat/veggies/fruit/whole grain nuts?Nobody, because they're is no money in it! the money is where the majority goes, and that's all to crap food!

Here in Florida we have Albertsons. In my city, if you go to Albertsons after 8pm and go to the butcher counter ask him to mark down the ground round . They will do 2.99 a pound down to 99 cents a pound. They throw it away anyway and they dont want to deal with it. They would rather get rid of it to you. Not all Albertsons do this. Some managers wont. But The oness here do except for one.

Eating mass amounts of food is not cheap. PERIOD. But the cost can be managed, as opposed to completely outrageous! I think the following 5 things are the best way to bring cost to a minimum well bulking.

  1. Sandwhich's: PB/Banana, deli meats, these are a VERY cheap, portable food that can help add extra calories for a low low cost.
  2. Milk. Per gram of protein the stuff is dirt cheap
  3. Oats. Yes Oats. the cheapest source of Carb's possiblly available, they also provide heavy amounts of fiber and a fair share of protein.
  4. Chicken Thighs/Drumsticks: yes, they do have high fat because of the skin and type of cut, but if you can be picky with it and peel off all the meat, these things are the cheapest source of meat protein I could find!
  5. Peanut Butter, Peanuts. The stuff is cheap, has fiber, healthy fat's, and taste's great, what more could you ask for?

That's my top 5 necessitys for Bulking on a Budget

I Personally prefer the chlorine taste of tap water (also it's free), add a little crystal light to the stagnent brown myst (that's it's scientifical name) and im good to go ! 10 more week's of mass gaining left for me ๐Ÿ™‚ YAY

The best part about using a butcher is that he/she can usually save you cut's that are great cut's but are going to be chucked out due to expiry , then she can just freeze them , and you buy them for a discount ! I also get my butcher to make chicken/beef extra lean ground, for really cheap! ๐Ÿ™‚

Also, maybe look into getting a slow cooker. I have been using mine the last couple of weeks with great success. You can buy small roasts which you can buy even cheaper than steaks cuts. Cut em into chunks with some potatoes cut in half, carrots, onion, etc. You can throw in a potatoe and carrot for every portion of meat you think you have or whatever. I'm getting like 4 good meals at a time and its so easy to do. Just another thought.

another good idea is a food processor It will take 1lb of ground beef and turn it into baby mush making it very easy to get down....add in some salsa for taste and you have a nice meal with 80 grams of protein
