This is a fast and easy way to prepare talapia fillets. All you need is:
talapia fillets
salt(optional)
coarse ground black pepper
garlic powder
paprika
red pepper powder
room temp butter.

Salt and pepper both sides of fillets. Smear the top of each fillet with i tsp butter. Evenly coat the fillets on the butter side with the garlic, paprika and red pepper(careful with the red pepper). Grill them butter side down in a non-stick skillet until the spices blacken. Flip em over and continue grilling until flaky.

I guess its a southern thing JB...sorry. It is what us southerners use on EVERYTHING. Eggs, meat, chicken, and its very very good. Its a louisiana based company that has to send our soldiers tons of it every month. Its the all for 1 seasoning. Anyway, check it out, its very very good on fish and you dont have to buy all of what the guy above decribed because its all in on seasoning.

Doin great bro. Thanks. I think it's better than using the premixed cajun spice. If I measured anything, I could post a lot of good recipes.

tony's is good but if you can get your hands on some Everglades Seasoning, you will be good to go. Awesome on anything.

Will do bro. I'm not a chef like you but I've got tons of experience as a line cook and I cook at home all the time. Just need to start mesuring my own recipes so anyone can use them.

Howdy

Tilapia is not one of my favorite fish to eat.
If you like them, then go for it!
They are algae eater, which isnt too bad.
But to me they taste like mud.
They have no color to their skin and they look anemic.
I live in Florida and they put these fish in to our lakes and rivers to eat up all the
Invading aquatic weeds along with many other things. They have taken over many years ago.
I prefer to eat fish, which eat other fish and have a lot of color.
Just like a trout for example (For you Yankee Boys)

If I were gonna eat the darn things I would soak them in milk over night , sprinkle in a little garlic, Old Bay seasonings along with a pinch of salt and pepper. (all this goes into the milk) Bread crumbs are good, but they burn to easily.
Then I would get my skillet hot as hell add some butter (Or your choice) and throw the fillets into it.
The skillet should be so hot that the fillets pop and sizzle quit a bit.
Wait till they get a little Blacken and there you have it.
Be careful because they cook quit fast this way.

Blacken Tilapia Fillets.

Any fish is good this way IMHO

I prefer Red Snapper Blacken ! Yummmm !

Darn! Now Im hungry.
