Synaptic transmission is fickle and numbness in that small isolated region is a good thing in terms clinical risk. However, if you experience manifestation of these symptoms elsewhere I’d suggest visiting a neurologist since its unlikely a mechanical ailment, as suspected at present.

and the doctor did not order any tests?
Such as a MRI or a series of nerve tests?
May be should look into a second opinion. as JB said it could lead to serious issues as it did to me. I had total numbness as well in the onset. I ignored it and this was my outcome.
heavyweight....you and jb have a good point:: thus .i shall go to see a different doc 1st thing in the morning, and as you both have said"if i ignore it then it just could get worse..
thanks both..regards Adrian....i shall let you know outcome

ok its official ..
the result why my fingers are numb
went to appointment which came yest..and the good news is i get to keep them ,,,the bad news is there is a bone on the left of my neck that is pushing down on some nerves that have stopped all use and feeling to my x2 pinkys ......now the doc said to me that it can be corrected surgicaly and isnt a problem to do .
if i refuse to have it done he said eventualy i wont be able to use my hand or worse !! so me is booked to have it done
the bit that is killing me more than anything is.....i will have to be away from my 2 kids for a night (ooohhhhhhh ddaammmnnnnn)

Damn, I should have posted it earlier, but anyway maybe it may help someone else Nerve injury symptoms ask for a visit in the Neurologist's office. After a clinical exam, he would probably ask you to undergo a Electroneuromyography (ENMG) in order to see if there's any nerve damage. One don't have to take this as a medical prescription, but some physicians prescribe Vitamin B-complex (vitamins B1 + B6 + B12) (e.g. Citoneurin 5000 UI) in the treatment of nerve damage. And just a reminder for all of us: alcohol abuse can result in neuropathy, abnormal nerve sensations in the arms and legs (Vinik 1999).

what surgical procedure is the doctor going to perform? is it discectomy with cervical spinal fusion? reason i ask is they have newer procedures available today that involve nonfusion technologies such as ADR (artificial disc replacement) which is a prosthesis functioning in place of a torn or herniated intervertebral disc.
