i did a quik search on the aussie corner re some natural herbal stuff that i can take for my anxiety, which is really interfering with my life, as it is sometimes followed by deep depression. now i read some good stuff about hypericum(st johns wort) and b vitamins, but what i wanna know is what YOU GUYS have used and found helpful. i know there's a few around that get depression and take anti d's but i've been down that road and although helpful, i hate the sides (except for not killing myself! ) if i can get a bit of a handle on my anxiety i think i will be in better control. i am also thinking about going to a natural therapist after reading what some guys wrote in s2k's thread i know this has probably been addressed before but i'm a little pressed for time to do in depth searching...oh and just by the way one thing that does cure me of all anxiety and makes me feel good is those disco bikkies (whatever is in them lol), maybe i could get some on script?:D  so divulge your secrets here guys.

mate after reading info on this site about it, i have taken homeopathic melatonin x 2 tablets before bed. helps me sleep and it was also noted for the guys that are 'on' it helps with liver protection as well. you could probably take in the morning too , but check it out at your health food store or chemist man. yours faithfully, Taurus

Try cognitive therapy... Dont patch the problem with drugs(even if they are natural), fix the problem(thinking patterns)

quick6, step has the right idea. forst try to determine the cause of the anxiety, and deal with that if you can after that, drugs may or may not be useful to highlight the point, when a psychiatric assessment is done, the first part of it is a full physical check (since some underlying conditions can cause depression etc) THEN you suss out environmental factors etc as for st johns wort, it is as effective as tricyclic antidepressants (take that to mean, it IS effective) but be cautious as there are side effects which can be quite severe i wouldnt reccommend having any more 'disco biccies' since you can completely stuff yourself up with them, but lifes life and the choice is yours. of course theres no way in hell a doctor will give you a script. and if they did, and you came into my pharmacy, theres no way in hell id give the drug to you 🙂 id be on the phone to the doctor asking him if he was feeling alright and if his medical indemnity insurance was all paid up short answer: see counsellor. deal with underlying probs. if that fails, try st johns wort for a short while, then get off it, and repeat process. cheers

L-5-HTP (150mg/day) increases serotonin levels in the brain (increase in mood). Works much better than the herbal stuff for decreasing anxiety and incr. mood. Aspiron gets rid of anxiety for me. Try it. You have some nearby. See how long it takes to kick in. Let me know.

I find 5-HPT works to help me wake up refreshed, and lessen depression, but the only thing thats works for my anxiety is Xanax(only if it gets real bad) and cognitive therapy(incomplete but it works). What kind of anxiety you got? It really does suck..

it is not a good idea to be taking "disco biks" if you are suffering from depression and anxiety type problems. The active ingredient MDMA will deplete the brain of seritonin and can increase the level of depression and anxiety. If you do happen to use MDMA type substances you should always if possible use an SSRI medication on the come down of the high as this will leave you feeling less wreaked the following week. The SSRI should have a short halflife such as wellbutrin ( spelling? ). As mentioned the use of 5 - HTP is good for increasing seritonin and fresh fruit and veges.

A safer alternative is L:-Tryptophan (see earleir thread) and is available from http://www.antiaging-systems.com and is passed by customs ok. I started taking it last night and had a reasonable night's sleep and don't feel quite as lethargic this monring as normal..... I will keep people updated on the results.... Taking 2gr ED Another idea is to try Thought Field Therapy.... did the course a few weeks ago... very helpful for getting to the root causes of anxiety/depression etc. Cheers.
