I've been reading alot about x-reps in magazines lately. I was wondering who has implemented this tehnique and if so what do they think of it. I was thinking of trying it in my rhoutine.

X-reps are a new technique where at the end of a set instead of cheating a weight up or trying to blast out that one last rep to failure you instead only flex the muscle to the sticking point and do a few extra reps until it really starts to burn. This keeps your muscles in continous tension and also keeps your nervous system from quitting on you when you are trying to get those last reps in or so I read. I haven't really experimented with it yet because i'm unsure of how fast you should go or if you are suppose to really flex the muscle in the sticking point.

The problem that I see with forced, x-reps etc. is that they may over tax the CNS resulting in overtraining. Used once in awhile should be ok, but not every w/o.

I agree.

X-Reps I think it's a kind of Ironman Mag/Steve Hoffman kind of philosophy and Training Methodology.

I use them in about 50% of my failure sets, I really believe they're effective! I think these concepts of overload in a semi-stretched position and occlusion are going to be heavily studied over the next few years.
