Hey guys. Have any of you ever tried power shrugs?, if so, what did you think? The only thing my traps seem to respond to is a good hard squeeze and stretch, yet, I can't imagine I'll build huge traps with a mere 225 which is about as much as I can do with good from. I'm thinking maybe these will help me.
Yeah, as far as muscle growth is concerned, power shrugs are one of the best movements (besides deads and powercleans). Honestly though, if you're powerlifting, how can you not have a good set of traps? With all the various types of pulls and rows, its hard for them to stay small long. What does your training look like?
I've never been blessed with good traps, you know how genetics are. I've always reasonably strong traps/back though, which is the weird thing. I can row 225-240 for an easy 20-30 reps and can row 315 for 6-8 but my back/traps have never been as big as I'd like. I don't do a ton of deadlifting, maybe every 2-3 weeks or so, because I don't want to get overtrained. I just don't know what is best for the back, repping with as much weight as possible, or a lot less weight with squeezes and all that shit.
