Hi Guys, I know that in the morning your bodys level of testostrone is higher. ( i read this somewhere)

My questions is right now im doing cardio at 5:30am on a empty stomach to shed some fat..BUT...how would weight training in the morning work out? should i eat? or not? i worry about getting into a catabolic state due to no food in me?

Can anyone clear this up for me..

protein prior to working out will improve muscle gain. If you work out after cardio it may negatively effect your workout. cardio after might be a better option.

I would never lift without eating first. No energy and its catabolism city. I prefer complex carbs, protein, and some good fat like peanut butter. I also usually have a drink with simple carbs and whey protein while I lift.

Doing cardio in the morning worked pretty good for me in the past. No/low carbs in your first meal will also help.

For me (as a natural athlete) doing cardio first thing in the early morning on a empty estomach always led me to lose muscle mass. I have to admit that always helped with the love handles, but hard-earned muscle mass used to be wasted in the process . On the other hand, I don't know what would happen if I were "on" doing the aforementioned procedure.

I follow this method when cutting. I get up andd drink 50grams of whey, hit the weights hard then do some cardio. Cardio after weight training also causes an increased ratio of fat being burned in regard to other substrates. I also have found that adding extra bcaa's to the whey is of added benefit to retaining muscle mass on a calorie/carb restricted diet.

Lifts, how your cardio session looks like? I mean how long, how many times per week etc?

That really varies as to what the mirror tells me. Average contest prep is 45mins to 1 hour 4-6 times a week in a cutting phase.

How many weeks before contest do you start this cardio protocol? What about during the bulking (or off-season) phase? And I'm just curious to know if you're a national level competitor?

I start my diet about 20 weeks out and cardio about 12 weeks. Of season cardio is limited to walking, hiking outdoors. Year befor last I competed in the North American Masters. I may at sometime compete in the Master's Nationals.

This is true. Turinabol is pretty good for preserving mass though, from what I hear. Sticking with low intensity cardio helps also.
