I work out at worlds gym and today I got a body comp test and for some reason I feel like I got gyped outa 20 dollars lol. I always thought the best way to measure your fat percent was through calipers etc. The guy who did it measured my shoulder circumfrance and waist and hips I think, took down my weight and height put it in a computer. But I started thinking what if I was really bloated that day for some reason or i have small or overly large shoulders wouldn't that make the test less accurate?

I then asked him because I guess hes a personal trainer about whether I should eat protein based on my lean mass or mass overall and he said I should eat .6-.8 grams of protein per pound of overall weight. That seems nuts considering most things I've read they said at least 2 grams of protein to grow. Man sometimes I hate personal trainers.

Sounds like you wasted time and money, also sounds as if the PT don't know shit about bodybuilding. IMO the best body comp test is the mirror.

liftsiron is a fictional character and should be taken as such.

You're wright to get angry, that's why people need to ask for their certifications and ID. When I say certification I mean ACSM's Fitness Instructor and NSCA's CSCS and CPT. My 2 cents.

I agree and I really like finger touching the skin like a calipter.

The one great method for BF% IMO would be the hydrodynamic or water displacement. Expensive unless you know some people but it is right on. as stated though you cant argue with the one who never lies, the human reflection. It sounds like that PT told you magazine quotes. I have read those exact lines out of flex and muscle fitness. The military's test is less accurate as well, they divide the waist measurement by the neck measurement and that number equates to a BF percentage. But they only do it if you are over your maximum weight. Which for me is 216, so i usually get taped being 223-228 most times. They tell me i am about 11-13 percent but i have yet to get a hydro test so i dont know for sure. What i do know is how i look in a mirror. That is what really matters.
