Venting thread:
The last 9 months have been tough as hell on me. I've torn two different muscles (rotator and trap), which took longer to heal than they should have because I'm an idiot (rushing back too quickly) and then I had a special project at work that had me there around the clock. When all was said and done, I lost about 20lbs and 60% of my strength.
I've been going at it for a month now and strength is climbing back fast. I'm too scared to jump on the scale, so I'm not sure about how much weight I've put back on. I've been eating to bulk though, so I'm adding a bit of padding too (I don't mind - I can look pretty after I find my long lost muscle).
Anybody else battling back from injuries/life?

yup, it's been slow going through.
Yep. If I think too much about it I get depressed tho. I think I'll eventually get pretty close to where I was.

that depressed feeling is a bitch... I've managed to recovery from every other time i've messed myself up, just gotta be patient.
I was seriously thinking about competing at state level bodybuilding contest. That's why it's depressing for me. Might not get back to that level. Pretty sure I would have placed.

I'm sure that you are way ahead of me here, but focus on form, form, form and I bet you will pass your old numbers. I have worked with a number of guys in a past life who benched big numbers with their elbows at like 90 deg from their body. They ended up injured, re-worked their form, and eventually were lifting more than before.
Injuries are a SOB, but can be used to deload and come back bigger and badder.

yeah, you'll get back bro. Take your time. A setback will bum you out even more.

always remember that we're basically egomaniacs and will try to do more than we should. Take your time and, like piston said. Concentrate on form. Celebrate the little gains and changes as you go. This helps you keep the right mindset. My injuries were from a drunk fucker t-boning me but I'm still the one who has to get it back. Hope we all get back to far better than before! Take your time!

I took off almost 3 years due to having my first lil Brahma and starting my own business. Working 12-14 hour days and eating like shit got me pretty disgusting. For the past 2 years I have been in the gym harder than ever. Doing it right, stretching, focusing more on technique has yielded me very good results. Im still not where I want to be, but im getting there slowly but surely. Back when I was in my early 20's it seemed like I could lose my gut in a summer, but now, its way harder. I started with a 42 waist and around 265 pounds. God only knows what the BF% was. Now im at 34 waist and around 220...bf around 14% and im 6'2". CEM has helped me a ton over the years.
