Pelecchia is a crock. I met the man at a strongman show in Boston. Maybe B Fold can chime in on this one....he just has big arms, thats all....his face was all red and blown up, obviously abusing the sauce and getting nothing out of it.:)

Can't even consider him a powerlifter. Me thinks he's just a joke. Isn't that guy in the Guiness book of records for having the worlds biggest arms or something too? Whatever happened to him?

Raw gym lifts mean a lot, it is the only accurate reflection of how strong someone is in that range of motion.
No, gym lifts raw or shirted mean nothing, it's what you do in comp that matters, gym lifts are always suspect to a degree. D
If you vid tape it just for posterity, then yeah it accurately shows what you're capable of IMO. A lot of guys even strongman guys lift a lot, even tape it, although they don't compete in pl. There lifts don't count at all?

And I can't STAND it when guys say they've done such and such in the gym, then compare themselves to guys who've done it in competition. If you've done it in the gym, thats awesome, especially if it shows that you're making continual progress and your training is going well. But do not compare yourself to others who've put the time in at the comps. Those are my 2 cents, I hope I don't sound like a dick.
I agree! I can't tell you how many times I have heard "So, how much you bench?" and I say "Over 700" and they say "yeah, I have an uncle who does more than that in his basement." I say "cool." It's not worth getting into it with these morons. Without decent rules everyone can claim to be Isaac Nesser or Jimmy Pelechia (sp) what a bunch of fucktards!

Everyone who's competed knows how hard it is to put together your best effort at a competition...and how shit that seemed easy in the gym can just go competely wrong. I use gym lifts to compare myself to my previous best. I don't compare myself to others unless I do it in a meet!
james made incredible 730+ raw bench in the gym. and i think that meas something. and dont forget that he can break bricks and stuff.:D :p :p
i am buddies with a guy that did the breaking bricks thing with henderson and the "power team" (i think) the guy also taught a 140lb preacher to do the same thing 🙂 it's all about the technique i guess, i aint gonna try it heh D
does james anything else than bench-press and brick-smashing in these "strenght shows". i know he lifts some pretty heavy ogjects. just wanna know.
not up to date but i know they would bend bars, and rip telephone books, rip pop cans in half, stuff like that, pretty neat stuff to watch D
